This is the main street of Bangar. The mini mart below is the only store. The green things are called trikes and people use them like cabs to get around.

i saw a bunch of filipinos standing around this fire. As i got closer i realized that it was a dog...a pretty good sized dog.(little smaller than abbey) They dog was stuck in like a little "fetal" position and still had its tail and all. It was only in the hair burning stages but was turning all black. One of the guys asked "Do you like?" It told him i thought it was delicious. Elder Werner has tried it and says its actually good. One member said he is looking for some dog to feed us but its hard to find. Life is just prime here in the Pinnes right now. Its just a sweet place and we are doing some important stuff and am finally seeing what the work is all about...but tagalog is still a struggle.

Sept. 7

We are far from other missionaries here and are always riding buses to get to meetings and things with other elders which hurts my wallet. (especially since Elder Werner is district leader) sometimes we treat ourselves and take the airconditioned buses which is more expensive. I barely fit in the seats of the regular ones and things get interesting when Elder Werner and I sit together and there are a lot of poeple riding. we dont have a cell phone but the ZL's do and they text our neighbors and then our neighbors deliver the message. Bangar is beautiful. There are hills surrounding and a couple of sweet rivers going to the dagat. The rice fields and stuff are sweet.

Aug. 25th

We are working in Bangar which is the Most northern area. We had to drive forever after transfer meeting. we live in a very humble and little house. its prob a little smaller than the kitchen. cement floors and old walls and fruniture. We have a sink and a small portable stove. There is one little room that just fits our beds and another that justs fits our desks that move up and down cause the legs arent the same length. The bathroom is my favorite. The toilet is like only the bottom half of what i thought a toilet is...and there is no seat so i feel like i am going to fall in everytime. next to that we have water nozzle thing and a bucket. So after we go, we just pour water over our business and somehow it goes away. i dont know the physics behind that but it works. The shower is the bucket. We just scoop some water out with a ladel and pour it over our heads. Man...ive almost gotten used to it. i definately have been soo humbled here. i truly am so much more grateful for the things I had.
